LEVEL UP YOUR MORNING

Do You Have A Morning Routine?

It doesn’t have to be glamorous, or an hour long! Your morning routine can be simple, quick and should be something that fills up your cup and sets you up for success, every single morning!

Get Organized

Now, I know this might sound out of reach, but think on it. Is there a way you could fit in a few minutes of alone time each morning? Even if that means you have to sneak outside and walk to the mailbox. What can you adjust in the usual events of the morning so that you have time built in for you? Maybe it’s loading the dishwasher, or cleaning up the living room. Decluttering or completing a simple organizing task can really help to create space energetically for new ideas and an open mind for the day.

Get Centered

Implement some meditation… or don’t. What we want you to understand is that you can do things you have never done before. Try something new. If the idea of meditation makes you want to cry, that's okay! Instead, can you just sit quietly for a few minutes and relax? What is most important is that you find something that makes you happy, that clears your mind and gives you room, mentally and physically to tackle the day.

Feel Ready To Take On The Day

A morning routine might be making you feel a little tense, and that’s normal! Just like when you try a new class, it might feel a little clunky at first, but after you give it a few go’s, you will be surprised at how easily you settle into it. When you schedule in a morning routine you are sending a message to yourself and your family that you are prepared for the rest of the day. Notice how on the days you complete your morning routine, you feel more on track and in the right state of mind! It also helps you to set intentions for your productivity for the day. Your brain will feel more organized and you will feel at ease with whatever comes your way!

One of the best parts of a morning routine is that it can make you feel more in control. No matter what comes up, you can rely on that small clip of the day to be something expected, familiar and calming. One of the most common stressors is feeling like you don’t have enough time to complete all of your responsibilities, to do lists, tasks, whatever it is that is on your plate. The beauty of having a concrete morning routine is that it eventually becomes second nature, and it's a special time each morning where you don’t have to think, you just do it, and bonus! You are simultaneously setting yourself up for success and a less stressful day. When we are less stressed, we are less anxious, and feel better physically and mentally.

Build In Healthy Habits

Another bonus about creating a morning routine is that it helps you to build healthy habits. When you make your morning routine a non negotiable, you are less apt to hit the snooze button, or lay in bed for 30 minutes scrolling through your phone.. But hey! We are not ruling that out as part of your routine, if that is what brings you peace, then maybe phone scrolling is part of it! Starting out the day with habits will set the tone for the rest of your day, and you just might start to fit in habits in the afternoon and evening too! One of the things that most people find beneficial about a morning routine is that by doing the same thing every morning, they are less apt to forget things. Since your morning routine will eventually become second nature, you wont forget to take time for yourself, or make your bed, or close the door to your bedroom so the dog doesn’t sleep in your bed all day.. You get the idea!

AM Prep The Night Before

Setting yourself up with a morning routine also helps you boost your confidence. By doing the same thing every morning you are building self care into your day, which is something most of us throw on the back burner. And speaking of self care, if you are someone who spends too much time picking out your outfit for the day, or gets stressed packing your bag- fit that into your morning routine too, but do it the night before! That's right, I am throwing you for a loop now. But it's a super easy pro tip that can save you a ton of time. Pick out your five workout outfits for the week and stack them up neatly somewhere, choose your five outfits for work and hang them up ready to go in your closet. Pack your bag, your lunch and snacks for work.. All the night before! Then, you can make it part of your morning routine to simply grab your outfit, your bag and your food, all without thinking.

Try On A New Hat

Your morning routine can be anything you want it to be! Maybe it’s when you do your workout, or maybe you post up and read for twenty minutes, or journal. There is no right or wrong routine! Do something that makes you happy and gets you pumped up for the day! See if you can plan out a morning routine that works for you and make it happen a few mornings out of this week. If it doesn't happen everyday, no sweat! Just try it, and notice how you feel on the days you did make it happen. See if you can start to work it into your morning. Tell your family about it. Set yourself up for success and make sure you have support! Another bonus about sharing your morning routine with your family is that when they see you start to shine, they are going to want to do the same. Plus, clear is kind. When everyone in your household knows that you have a specific morning routine scheduled, they will respect your time, making for a smoother morning for everyone.

Get a Journal

Do you have a journal? During your morning routine (or any time you have a few quiet moments) Write down ONE thing you are celebrating yourself for. Something you are proud of yourself for or something that felt successful to you recently. This is a great exercise to reprogram the neural pathways in the brain. We are always slip- sliding into all the things we have to do and forgetting to look at all of the things we have already done and created! Whether it's a recent accomplishment, big or small, it doesn’t matter! If you feel like writing more about it, go for it! It's all up to you.
