MISSION
Cultivating a cohesive environment designed to energize, challenge and heal.
If you have ever taken a class at Steam House, you know we are a tight knit community, that welcomes everyone and anyone. We rely on each other to stay motivated, to have fun and to keep showing up. We are so proud of our community, and know that each of our members feels the same. Whether you are already a part of Steam House or thinking about taking your first class, we are here to support you and welcome you with open arms.
A general sense of belonging is extremely important to us. We want you to know that no matter who you are, you will fit right in. Working out in a group setting can be intimidating, we get it. Our students and teachers hold space for everyone and want you to feel at complete ease as soon as you walk through our lobby door. We have created a safe environment that is designed for everyone to challenge, energize and heal their body.
We are here for you, no matter what. Our teachers are committed to bringing you the very best Yoga and Pilates classes, and hold dedicated practices themselves. We want you to succeed with your mental and physical work-out goals, and we know that commitment to yourself plays a huge part in that success story. Our accountability wall and ongoing challenges make it fun and exciting to stay committed to you and our community.
This one may seem like a given, but we didn’t want to let it slide by without breaking it down a bit more. Health can mean a lot of things, and at Steam House we know that it takes a lot of moving parts to operate and maintain a healthy, physical and mental body. Whether you are practicing to improve your physical fitness, to reduce stress or heal anxiety, we put health into everything we do.
In order to start, move forward and maintain a yoga and pilates practice you need a place you can turn to that is safe. When you take class with us, we have your best interest in mind. We are here to help you, watch out for you, remind you to slow down, or perhaps to challenge yourself. Whatever it is, we want you to know that what we say we mean, and what we do, we stand by. Our teacher’s live, eat and breathe hot fitness and we want nothing more than for our students to feel the safe level of peace, happiness and security that our own practice’s journey has brought to us.
One of the best things you can do for yourself and for those that you love is to take the first step into this yoga studio. Steam House is nonjudgmental, welcoming and an inspirational place to be. Wherever you are in your life.. Spirituality, physically, emotionally or just want a kick butt workout (or just a place to quietly enjoy the heat) this is the place to go. Bikram yoga offers therapy and exercise all in one... And this community in Epping is an amazing place to be ... Give it a try, you will not be disappointed in the many positive ways it will enhance your life.
Emily was one of my first yoga teachers, and I have always enjoyed her classes. She is so supportive of someone who is not flexible and over weight. Her positive attitude and yoga has allowed me to become physically and mentally a better person. Her new studio in Epping is a bright and fun place and you must stop by. She can change your life, like she has changed mine.
I started practicing Yoga in December of 2015 at Steam House. The increased flexibility has improved my golf game greatly, I’ve lost >16 lbs, and reduced blood pressure by >10 points. I recommend for any athlete to try Bikram Yoga and improve your performance. Sweat - stretch - repeat!
This whole studio has been a game changer for what I was told for years was a bad back.
IHP is my saving grace to strengthen my core and basically dissipate my back pain. I LOVE the yoga to stretch me out! This studio is AMAZING. I’m so happy I found it.
When I came here I knew I would feel better later in the day. I have more energy., I sleep better at night time
This definitely cuts back on my anxiety. Let’s me flow through the day more. I’m not one of those outwardly high-strung people, I’m more of an internally high-strung person. My job comes with a lot of stress. Coming to yoga regularly helps me cut back on unnecessary stress. It helps to release and not worry about things that don’t matter so much.
I can move easily when getting into my kayak, or even when I am putting on my socks. Even better, I notice myself stretching up with my spine, lifting my torso and pulling my belly in as I am stand in line or riding my quad. I’m surprised and happy about that and credit it to the yoga/pilates combination. I want to live well for a long time, and for me the keys to achieving that goal is movement and good nutrition.
In August I went to urgent care in extreme pain. The doctor said that I had scoliosis and my hips were out of alignment. He said that it was one of the worst cases he had ever seen. I began physical therapy, had an MRI which revealed a slipped disc and degeneration of the pad between the vertebrae. I was in such pain that I had to take 2 weeks off from work. Even with complete rest I could find no relief from the pain. I visited my primary care physician and a nurse in his office recommended that I try Bikram Yoga. Just spending the time in the hot room would give me some relief. As a practicing yogi of gentle yoga, I knew the benefits of the regular practice, as all of the health professionals that I had seen were amazed at my flexibility and my ability to use yoga postures to bring relief from my pain. I left the doctor’s office, checked the Steam House website, changed to workout clothes and headed for the studio.
I walked in using a cane and could do very few of the standing postures due to pain every time I stood. I continued to work through the pain under the supervision of the staff at Steam House. We discussed my medical condition and the instructors recommended modifications to the postures in line with the restrictions given by the medical professionals. I continue to improve evidenced by my ability to walk without a cane, the elimination of my blood pressure medication, and on Thanksgiving Day I had absolutely no pain, which continued for four days!!!. I am not out of the woods yet, but as I continue to strengthen the muscles along my spine, as well as my core, I have every confidence that I will continue to improve.
Thank you, Emily and all the staff at Steam House!!! You are stuck with me. Thanks for teaching an “old dog new tricks.” I have a lot more to say. You won’t believe what the doctors are saying about yoga. Stay tuned.
thank you for creating a space where it’s comfortable. Where I feel welcome. Where I can take care of me. Where I am not judged, but encouraged. For all the reminders you post about making personal time a priority.
You’ve got a good thing going on at Steam House and I wanted you to know I appreciate your studio and you cultivating an environment that is so good for my soul.
Instead of gaining weight this Winter like I always do. This Winter I lost weight! And, I had fun doing it all. All thanks to Inferno Hot Pilates.
I’m a bit dramatic by nature but I’m really not being dramatic when I say that Steam House probably saved my life. For anyone that is like me 18 months ago - I’d tell them the same thing over and over. Just go try one class. You won’t feel out of place- everyone is so kind and welcoming, you will feel amazing after an hour - it’s an intense workout but it’s so rewarding! You won’t find a teacher there that isn’t worth taking a class with. They are all so great! This was an investment and it’s already paid off ten times over. I live 20 miles from Steam House and I have zero regrets making the trip out there three times a week. I have zero regrets about joining Steam House period.
First time ever at a yoga class and even though I couldn’t do everything to the extent others could I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all! I loved it and felt great all day! I can’t wait to go back!
Steam House Hot Yoga & Pilates was my first real introduction to yoga. Although I felt intimidated before I actually went, that all disappeared as soon as I went because Emily (the studio owner) is so welcoming. She has always given me pointers and encouragement during classes, which has helped me to progress from where my body is every day. I can't do all the postures fully, but I know what kind of modifications are correct for my body because of my Steam House teachers.
Getting to know the other teachers has been great too, everyone is so helpful and encouraging. My body has changed a lot for the better in a few short months. The nagging daily neck pain and headaches I had are gone and I feel stronger as well as much more flexible. I would say to anyone don't be afraid to try this healing yoga, and don't be afraid of the heat. Your body really does adjust after the first week or so and eventually you crave getting into the hot room.
Amazing studio with great instructors! Highly recommend to anyone of any age at any level. Don’t know what I would do without this studio. Hot yoga has helped alleviate my lower back pain, increase circulation, gain strength and flexibility resulting in a happier state of mind.
I really love the pilates and your instructors are AWESOME: Nick, Kale and Ariel are great. I can’t say that I have ever really looked forward to going to any exercise class but this is addicting and I can’t wait to go each time. You have a really great team!
I feel that hot yoga keeps my muscles and joints healthy and strong so that I can continue to do all the things I love to do. I love that I can still do all of these activities with my grandchildren.
The multitude of benefits from this practice are crazy! I feel silly for not doing it earlier. I used to be unable to sleep on my shoulders, but since doing this my shoulders and everything feels better. The mental health benefits too. I mean, this is great.
Im glad I found this, or it found me . I don’t know!
